Iodine is used in the production of dyes and in photography, the Lugol fluid component.

5g of crystalline iodine (J) - black, iodine dyes water in a dark color and gives a characteristic taste.

Preparation of a 5% solution (Lugol's liquid)

Pour 100ml distilled water into a container with a lid, add 10g potassium iodide (white), stir it until it is completely dissolved. Allow to stand for about 60 minutes.

After one hour, add 5 g of crystalline iodine (black), mix intensively and leave for about 12 hours.
